Answers, part 2

Yesterday, we started looking at the "Many infallible proofs" of the resurrection, (Acts 1:3) in hopes of being able to give an answer to our trust in Jesus. (1st Pet. 3:15) after all Jesus is THE gift this Christmas season, the one everyone must have.
2) The Governor had the tomb sealed.
Jesus had promised many times that he would rise again, enough so that even his enemies recalled it. Because of this, special precautions were taken. One of these precautions was a legal process called sealing. (Sphragidzo in Greek) This means that the contents were verified by government officials and sealed. Likely with some type of string and wax seat guaranteeing the contents and that it had not been tampered with. The Jewish religious rulers asked for this and it was granted by Pilate himself. The very seal of Rome, with all her might guaranteed that the body of Jesus was there and sealed the tomb. Next as an additional security measure, guards were stationed outside the opening that was sealed. It is important to note that it was punishable by death for a soldier to sleep on guard duty. No Roman soldier would confess to sleeping, to do so meant death. It is worthy of note that no arrest orders were ever issued for the Apostles. They were seen countless times in public. It would have been easy to have captured them if they were wanted men. (Mat.27:62 to 66)
3) The Grave was found empty and its exact location is lost to history.
The Roman guards themselves told of fainting in the presence of the Angels who opened the tomb. Mary of Magdela and others saw that it was empty as well. The emptiness of the Tomb was and has never been seriously questioned. Jesus’ body was placed there, the tomb sealed and now it was empty. In Modern day Yemen, there is a small rustic, but much visited tomb. It is revered by the three largest religions in the world. It is the tomb of Job. Not very far from there is another. It is reported to hold the remains of Mary’s father. (Jesus’ natural Grandfather). I ask you, If History can keep track of these tombs, why is the location of the Tomb of Jesus still being debated? Because it was found empty! What was of value was long gone.
It is my prayer for those who are reading these answers to why I believe in the resurrection, that you/they are looking a fresh at the resurrection and are encouraged by my answers. Let us pray:
Lord the Resurrection of your Son, Jesus is without a doubt the turning point in world history. We marvel in your "Many infallible proofs”. Hide these truths in our heart this day. Help us to draw them out when needed to serve you. Don't let them become trivia, but rather bedrock to stand on. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
