Yabutts!

1st Cor. 2:10-12
Phil. 2:15,16
Matt 6:33

It is storming here in South Central Pennsylvania, storming like NEVER before. Hurricanae Sandy has come. Perhaps that is why I saw him, he was so frightening!! A mythological creature for sure; he is called a "YABUTT". No don't confuse him with old Elmer Fudds "Wascaly Wabbit". This was most definatley a Yabutt. What is a Yabutt you ask? A Yabutt is a person, who when confronted with the clearly revealed, does what their sense of self tells them to do anyway. The first thing to come out of their mouths is "YEA But...." That is where the name comes from. Yea but..... Just stop at the word Yea!! Next thing you know they are blaming YOU for the conviction that God is putting on their hearts. What makes them so dangerous is that they are SAVED people. I have been seeing them for months to tell the truth, since these elections have gone into full swing.

Yabutts are scary, but here is a secret. They can be helped and returned to normal. All it takes is love. You see they became Yabutts because of confusion in two main areas in their lives. First is the roll of the Word of God in their lives. It is never the Bible and perspective, or the Bible and anything added to it. They are also confused as to who is going to rule their lives. Is it Self or is it GOd? Is it MY will or THY will? Them or Jesus, The Lord of ALL.

Just knowing that they are under conviction tells me they can be helped, that they are not beyond reach. Loving them, helping to repent of such foolishness, asking God to calm their confusion will return them to good and faithful servants. As the wise man said, "All you need is love" and a little prayer time. Let us pray:

Lord God, we call you Lord, but often we are confused. We get muttered up with our own desires, confusing them with ours. So often we lose track of where we are and whose side we are on. Help us to always keep the fact that we are citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven first in the forefront of our decision making process. You are on the throne of our hearts not our self interests. Your Kingdom will last forever, not those of this earth. Please restore the hurt feelings and forgive the angry rhetoric. We ask this in Jesus' name, Amen.
