No try, only do

Gal 2:20
I was having one of those conversations with my son the other day. You know, one of the, "Why was this forgotten" types of chat.  He said he would TRY to not forget it the next time. That was when I broke out the "Yoda". There is most definitely draw backs for my children, when their Dad is a Star Wars Geek. That is where the "Yoda" came from. A Yoda is a Hollywood type, pseudo-wise saying or conclusion to a situation. After he said he would TRY to remember, it slipped out. "There is no try, only do". He just shook his head and walked away, no doubt promising to keep me in prayer.
GOd does not expect us to be reborn with faith enough to move a mountain (Matthew 17:20). Most, if not all of us are reborn on the mustard seed side of that scripture. He does expect our faith to grow. As I have said before, anything that does not grow is not alive. Faith is no different. It must grow. Have you ever stopped and compared your faith to that of the people in the New Testament days? We, myself included, fall so far short of that standard. No wonder we don't see the things that they saw. Right about now, someone is saying, "But they had Jesus with them." I must then ask, Don't you?? Didn't Jesus say, "It is better for us that he go away, so that the Holy Spirit could come and dwell in us and empower us?" (John 16:7) We have Gods own Spririt living in us. The next time you look in the mirror ask yourself a question. Am I who I was before I asked Jesus into my heart and my life? Are the reasons you do anything you do, the same as they were before? Is your heart gripped at the the merethought of committing an overt sin? Ok, so that is like three questions. If the conclusion of that little conversation is 2 no answers and a yes answer, then you have the physical evidence of the Resurrection living inside of you. We live from a faithful action to the next faithful action. We first trust Jesus for small things and our confidence grows. We learn to trust him for greater, larger things. With faith it is OK to "try" because it gives us confidence in the God of the Universe. He is the God of "DO". Let us pray:
Lord, you have always honored faith, from Adam to us. We sometimes think that faith is some hard thing. It is simply trusting in you. We, your children, carry with us everyday the very down payment of the resurrection; that being your HOly Spirit. You are so trustworthy, so true to your word. Lord, forgive us for our lack of faith. Help us to exercise it daily in your service. For King and Kingdom's sake we pray in Jesus' name, Amen.
